In Europe, Foresight activities emerged first at the national level. Germany, France, the UK and the Netherlands have been undertaking a range of 'futures research' activities since the early 1990s. Austria, Ireland, Portugal and Sweden just finished Foresight exercises. Greece is initiating a Foresight exercise now. Denmark is also conducting regular sectoral Foresight exercises.
